Tree frog species number 800 worldwide with 30 in the United States. Tree frogs, and amphibians in general, are experiencing rapid decline on a global scale. Because they breathe through their skin, they are more sensitive to environmental change than other animals. Habitat destruction, pollution, climate change, and diseases like chytridiomycosis are threatening their very existence.
